Health Centre of Excellence

On September 7, 2018, the Government of Canada announced an investment of $100 million for the construction of the Norway House Cree Nation Health Centre of Excellence. It is the largest health infrastructure project ever to be announced by the Department of Indigenous Services Canada (DISC). 

Norway House Cree Nation has been committed to this initiative for over a decade. Through a formal partnership with the federal government and other key stakeholders, the community is now in a position to lead and execute this very important initiative.

Norway House Cree nation now has the resources to develop a state-of-the-art health care facility that will deliver care to the community and become a beacon of light and hope for the nation.

NHCN Community Health and Wellness Bursary

Through a partnership with Donor Relations at the University of Manitoba, the NHCN Community Health & Wellness Foundation Bursary was established,offering two (2) annual bursaries over four (4) academic years with a value of $6,000 each. This bursary is unique as the NHCN Community Health & Wellness Foundation was the successful candidate of the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative where theProvince of Manitoba will match our private donation at a 1 to 1 ratio for the lifespan of the bursary.

Indigenous ways of knowing: Developing Indigenous competencies to inform undergraduate midwifery and nursing curricula, identifies places in both the midwifery and nursing undergraduate academic curricula in the College of Nursing, where Indigenous knowledge will be threaded as learning outcomes for all students. Research and work for this project have now been completed.
