This diverse sector covers a wide range of services, from those targeted at people living with complex health and care needs – such as district nursing and palliative care – to health promotion services – such as school nursing and health visiting.
Community services play a key role in keeping people well, treating and managing acute illness and long-term conditions, and supporting people to live independently in their own homes. HARM REDUCTION COORDINATOR
Jonathan Meikle has been hired by Norway House Cree Nation to start a program designed to help the people of Norway House to reduce the amount of violence occurring in the community. John is located in the Community Health Services section of the HCE.
ABORIGINAL DIABETES INITIATIVE COORDINATOR
Myrah Spence is in charge of the Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative Coordinator. She is located in the Community Health Services section of the HCE. She is a resource to the community by working, educating, helping, assisting, facilitating, liaising, supporting and promoting awareness of diabetes to our community at large, in community diabetes prevention, prevention of diabetes complications, and diabetes care management, by providing hands on activities, working in partnership with other health care providers and health programs, linking with diabetes related resources outside community, promoting and supporting diabetes care management, individual counselling & education, food security projects, awareness activities, promoting physical activity and healthy eating healthy lifestyles in all age groups.
PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT
